Women's water polo team of China climbing the highest podium
After the final, Kazakhstan goalkeeper Galina Rytova (35), who first played for Russia at the 1994 Rome FINA World Championships and won bronze with Russia at the 2000 Olympic Games, announced her retirement from the sport to start a family. She switched to Kazakhstan in 2003 and played the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Nine men's teams will contest the eight-day competition from tomorrow with reigning champion China playing Japan in what will be a rematch of the 2006 Doha Asian Games final.
