Women’s 800m Freestyle: Li Bingjie (CHN) wins China’s fifth gold medal in this event at the world short course championships, most for a country. China only won as many as five world short course titles in the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay (5).
Men's 100m Butterfly: Matteo Rivolta (ITA) is the fourth Italian man to win an individual world short course title, after Fabio Scozzoli (100m breaststroke in 2012), Gregorio Paltrinieri (1500m freestyle in 2014) and Alberto Razzetti (200m butterfly in 2021).
Italy is the third country to complete the men's 100m/200m butterfly double at a single world short course championships, after Australia (1995) and South Africa (2014 and 2016, all Chad Le Clos).

Men’s 100m Butterfly: Youssef Ramadan (EGY) is hoping to become the first swimmer representing Egypt to claim a medal at the world short course championships. Egypt would be the fifth African country to win silverware in this competition after South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tunisia and Algeria.
Egypt's only swimming medal at the world championships or Olympic Games was achieved by Farida Osman: two bronze medals in the women’s 50m butterfly at the world long course championships (2017 and 2019).
Women’s 800m Freestyle: Simona Quadarella (ITA) won a medal in this event at the 2018 World Short Course Championships (silver), the 2019 World Championships (silver) and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games (bronze).
