“I’m very excited about [the win]. I stopped diving for two years after Tokyo. I didn’t perform very well in the prelims and semifinals. I was searching why, with my coach, looking for the way to get better in a short amount of time. We analyzed the problems.”

“Of course, I really hope that I can extend my sports career. At the same time, I also hope that the Chinese diving team will continue to adhere to the great traditions. I’m looking forward to the 2028 Olympic Games.”

“Honestly speaking, for every competition, we [China] would like to have two athletes in order to secure the medals. Pressure is something that every athlete needs to overcome. To overcome this pressure, to demonstrate our best performance in the final, I would rather see pressure as motivation.”

“The perf by the Mexican athlete [Osmar Olvera Ibarra] has proved that he is very [successful]. In his future competitions, with growth and experience, more achievement will be made. I do hope that his performance will be further enhanced throughout his growth cycle. His appearance has also motivated us in diving.”

“For four more years I will train to be strong. I want to win more. I want to be better, stronger and more handsome.”

“Of course, it is regrettable that I lost, however, this is competitive sports. There is always going to be a winner and loser emerging. I must learn to accept any failure. My response is to make greater effort to further improve myself, but all congratulations to my teammate Xie [Siyi], to defend his title.”

“I had quite a big error during my performance. There was a lot of pressure from the others. I wanted to do better. I did quite well in the prelims and semifinal, but not so well in the final. I am my biggest enemy to fight against, not the other players. I am still young. I am 22 years old.”

Osmar Olvera Ibarra (MEX) – BRONZE, men’s 3m

“[My performance was] historic. I’m happy about everything that happened in this final. I’m happy about the medal. I’m looking for the gold. Bronze [today] and silver [in the men's synchro 3m in Paris] were short for the gold. Revenge is in LA [at the 2028 Olympic Games]. The sky is the limit for me.”

“Those [Chinese] athletes are incredible divers. They are the best of the best. Xie Siyi has inspired me, motivated me. They both have. I’m very happy to have them as opponents because they also push me to fight for a victory.

“I don’t know that I’m the most important athlete [for Mexico here], but I’m really-really happy with what I’ve been able to achieve. My goal here as to win two medals, so it couldn’t have been better.

“Joaquin Capilla was able to win four medals [for Mexico]. I need to keep working, keep making the necessary effort to get to the top. But right now I just want to enjoy time with my family, enjoy my success, and once I get back to Mexico, we’ll start working on the next cycle on the way to LA.”
