Eight (8) events are included in the program of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for Diving. Men and Women will compete in:

  • 3m Springboard - Individual 
  • 10m Platform - Individual
  • 3m Springboard - Synchronised
  • 10m Platform - Synchronised

Type of allocation of quota places: Quota places are allocated to the NOC(s).

ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY 

Compliance with the Olympic Charter and other relevant rules

All athletes must respect and comply with the provisions of the Olympic Charter currently in force, including but not limited to Rule 41 (Nationality of Competitors) and Rule 43 (World Anti-Doping Code and the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions). 

Only those athletes who respect and comply with the Olympic Charter, the World Anti-Doping Code and the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions, including the conditions of participation established by the IOC, plus the rules of World Aquatics, may participate in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Age Requirements:

Athletes younger than 14 years on 31 December in the year of the competition shall not be permitted to compete at the Olympic Games.

If additional eligibility criteria/requirements:

Only the athletes who are eligible to participate at the official World Aquatics competitions, in accordance with the World Aquatics Competition Regulations, are entitled to participate in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

QUALIFICATION PATHWAY

Individual Qualification: Springboard and Platform  

An individual athlete may obtain only one (1) quota place per individual event for his/her NOC/NF. Individual athletes shall qualify quota places for their NOCs, as follows:

World Aquatics Championships Fukuoka 2023 

The twelve (12) highest placing athletes in each individual event shall each obtain one (1) quota place for his/her NOC with a maximum of two (2) athletes per NOC.

Up to 5 Athletes

Continental Championships

A Continental Championship must be approved by World Aquatics. Only the champion in each of the four (4) individual events shall obtain a quota place for his/her NOC. Any athlete finishing below 1st place in these four (4) events will not be offered a quota place unless these athletes qualify via another portion of this criteria.

Should a Continental Championship not take place, a continent may qualify a diver for an individual event at the event to be decided by the World Aquatics Bureau. At least two (2) National Federations from that continent must participate in the respective individual event at an event to be decided by the World Aquatics Bureau. The highest placing continental athlete will obtain a quota place for his/her NOC. 

Should a Continental Championship happen before the World Aquatics Championships Fukuoka 2023, the results will be considered as if the Continental Championship happened after the World Aquatics Championships Fukuoka 2023.

An individual athlete may obtain only one (1) quota place per individual event for his/her NOC.

A neutral World Aquatics Technical Diving Delegate must be in attendance at the Continental Championships.

12 athletes

World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024

The twelve (12) highest placing athletes will each obtain one (1) quota place for their NOC with a maximum of two (2) athletes per NOC. The total number of athletes qualified in this event shall not exceed the total maximum quota (136). 

Additional athletes Additional quota places may be obtained by athletes for his/her NOC but only until the quota in the respective event is filled and the total of 136 athletes is not exceeded. These additional quota places will be allocated to athletes placed 13th and higher at the World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024 until the maximum number of athletes is reached and respecting the maximum number of quota per NOC.

 

Team Qualification: Synchronised Diving (Springboard and Platform) 

There shall be eight (8) synchronised diving teams in each event, including the host country team. Qualification places shall be obtained as follows:

World Aquatics Championships Fukuoka 2023

The three (3) highest placing teams, excluding the Host country, shall earn a quota place for their NOC.

World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024

The four (4) highest placed teams which have not yet obtained a quota place via the 20th World Aquatics Championships Fukuoka 2023 shall earn a quota place for their NOC.

Host country

The host country is guaranteed one (1) team in each Synchronised Diving event, four (4) women and four (4) men for a maximum total of up to eight (8) athletes.

 

CONFIRMATION PROCESS FOR QUOTA PLACES

Following each qualification event, World Aquatics will publish the results on its website.

Following the conclusion of the Olympic Games Qualification process and no later than two (2) weeks thereafter, each NOC will be notified with the number of quota places that they have obtained. 
The total number of athletes to be entered by all NOCs shall not exceed 136. 

The NOCs will then have two (2) weeks to confirm if they wish to use these quota places, as detailed in paragraph. 

Qualification Timeline

If an athlete will be entered both as a team member in synchronised diving and as an individual competitor on the same height event, that athlete should only be counted as one (1) quota place. (Example: If both synchronised athletes in springboard also compete individually in springboard, the total number of springboard athletes shall be reported as two (2)).

CONFIRMATION OF HOST COUNTRY PLACES

The Host NOC shall confirm to World Aquatics the use of the allocated quota places two (2) weeks after the end of the Olympic Games Qualification Phases.

REALLOCATION OF UNUSED QUOTA PLACES

If an allocated quota place is not confirmed by the NOC by the confirmation of quota place deadline or is declined by the NOC, the quota place will be reallocated as follows:

Individual Diving (Springboard and Platform) 
If an NOC which has obtained a quota place and has not entered an athlete into the Olympic Games, the quota place shall be reallocated to the next highest placing NOC/NF from the World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024 not yet qualified, to the extent that the aggregate of all entries (Synchronised Diving and Individual Diving) does not exceed 136.

Synchronised Diving (Springboard and Platform) 
If any of the seven (7) qualified teams which have obtained a quota place withdraws, it shall be replaced by the next highest placed team at World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024 not yet qualified. 

Reallocation of unused Host County Places 

If the host country decides not to use a reserved team quota place, the quota place shall be reallocated to the next highest placed NOC, not yet qualified, in the same event from the World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024.
