With the locations and dates of next year’s major international competitions now confirmed on the World Aquatics calendar, athletes across all aquatic sports can plan their training and build towards the 2026 season with confidence.
Registration is also already open for several key events, such as the first World Aquatics competition of the year - the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup in Medellin, Colombia, which runs from 13-15 February.
Following a recent decision by the World Aquatics Bureau, Neutral Athletes may now participate in all water polo competitions and team events. The same eligibility, integrity and neutrality conditions of participation previously implemented for individual athletes at World Aquatics competitions will continue to be strictly enforced by the Aquatics Integrity Unit.
The Guidelines are in respect of athletes wishing to participate in any World Aquatics event or competition (e.g. World Aquatics Championships, World Aquatics Swimming Championships, World Aquatics Junior Championships, World Aquatics Masters Championships, World Aquatics World Cups, World Aquatics Diving Recognised events) and/or in any qualifying competition for the World Aquatics World Championships and/or the Olympic Games, and have now been extended to all Continental-level events.
With the calendar in place and registration underway, athletes can now look ahead to 2026 with focus and certainty.
