Six teams earned their places in the Women’s Water Polo World Cup 2025 Final through the Division 1 tournament in Alexandroupolis, Greece, in January 2025: Spain, the Netherlands, Greece, Australia, Hungary, and Italy. An additional two teams, China and Japan, secured qualification as the top-ranked nations from the Division 2 tournament held in Istanbul, Türkiye, in December 2024.

All matches will take place in the Dongan Lake Sports Park Swimming and Diving Hall, a competition venue built for the 31st Summer Universiade 2023, and used at the World Aquatics Women’s U18 Water Polo Championship 2024

With defending champions USA failing to advance from the Division 1 tournament in Greece, the 2025 World Cup will see a new team claim the title in Chengdu. The USA claimed the 2023 World Cup title in Southern California, securing a dramatic 12-11 victory over the Netherlands in the final. Spain enters the 2025 tournament as the reigning bronze medallist, having edged Hungary 18-15 in the third-place match.
