Leon Marchand (FRA), Gold, Men’s 200m Breaststroke

I have accomplished many dreams since I’ve been here. To make this double was something I felt capable of, but to make it really is something else. Now I need to realise all of this, enjoy every moment, and focus again because there is the 200m Individual Medley tomorrow.

Sarah Sjostrom (SWE), Gold, Women’s 100m Freestyle

I didn't think I would swim the 100m Freestyle. After the freestyle relay the first day, I told my coach straight away, 'I don't think the 100m Freestyle is for me, I want to do the 50m, I will rest until the 50m'. He was like, 'no way, you need to go out there and see what you can do, no matter the outcome'.

Anastasiia Kirpichnikova (FRA), Silver, Women’s 1500m Freestyle

It’s incredible. Everyone was screaming when I finished second. I still can’t imagine it. I don’t believe that I am second.

Pan Zhanle (CHN), Gold, Men’s 100m Freestyle

I tried my best to get the best result. I was very surprised to break the World Record in the end, and I think it was a magical moment.

Ilya Kharun (CAN), Bronze, Men’s 200m Butterfly

It's such a great honour, I'm really happy to represent Canada, and it's so amazing to show what I can do… They (my parents) were on the travelling circus around different countries, and they happened to be in Montreal because that's where the circus was stationed. I just happened to be born there.

David Popovici (ROU), Bronze, Men’s 100m Freestyle

Pan smashed the race. Massive props to him. That only means that we’re going to try harder and work harder. If we work harder than him, maybe we win gold. I think making an even faster time than Pan’s is possible. There are people alive now and swimming who can do it. It’s just a matter of putting it together and doing it at the right moment.

Caspar Corbeau (NED), Bronze, Men’s 200m Breaststroke

Awesome, surreal, happy with the result. When I touched the wall, I saw the usual suspects, people who usually touch before me, but to be able to see a third place on the scoreboard is really special and I'm really happy to do that at the side of the best of the world.

Torri Huske (USA), Silver, Women’s 100m Freestyle

Sarah is the greatest. I'm so happy for her. She is such an accomplished swimmer, and she's so sweet and kind. It couldn't have gone to a nicer person.

Zac Stubblety-Cook (AUS), Silver, Men’s 200m Breaststroke

It’s his moment. He’s hungry. He’s on the cusp of being one of the greatest swimmers. We’re just seeing the beginning. Maybe if it was someone else, I wouldn’t be as happy for them, but I was stoked for him to have that moment in front of the home crowd. To see someone achieve that, I can’t complain.

Katie LEDECKY (USA), Gold, Women’s 1500m Freestyle

I was just really happy with the time, honestly. My three swims prior to this, I kept feeling that the time was a lot slower than it felt. That was the first one that felt like it showed in the time. I’m really happy.

Siobhan Haughey (HKG), Bronze, Women’s 100m Freestyle

I knew it would not be easy. I knew that in the last ten metres it would be very, very competitive, and I just put my head down. It’s not a gold but I am still happy with it.
