General: United States and Australia are the only two countries to have won a gold medal at each of the previous 14 world short course championships. China, Russia and Great Britain join the two nations in winning a medal of any colour at all previous 14 editions.
Team USA leads the overall medal table on most gold (117) and total medals (306). Australia is in second place on 79 gold and 239 total medals.
General: Chad Le Clos (RSA) and Ranomi Kromowidjojo (NED) have both won a gold medal at five different world short course championships. They could join Ryan Lochte (USA) as the only swimmers to win a world short course title at a record six editions.
General: Daiya Seto (JPN) and Vladimir Morozov (RSF) took home a gold medal from each of the last four world short course championships (2012-2021).
The three swimmers to have won a world short course title at five successive editions are Ryan Lochte (USA, 6 from 2004-2014), James Hickman (GBR, 5 from 1997-2004) and Chad Le Clos (RSA, 5 from 2010-2018).
Women’s 200m Freestyle: Siobhan Haughey (HKG) could become the first medallist representing Hong Kong at the world short course championships. Earlier this year in Tokyo, she became the first swimmer to pick up a medal for Hong Kong at the Olympic Games: silver in the 100m freestyle and silver in the 200m freestyle.
Men’s 200m Individual Medley: Daiya Seto (JPN, G5-S3-B4) could become the most decorated Asian athlete at the world short course championships. He now shares the Asian record of 12 medals with Le Jingyi (CHN, G10-S0-B2).
