World Aquatics and the local event organisers are pleased to announce the opening of media accreditation for national and international media to the World Aquatics Championships – Doha 2024.
The showpiece global aquatics event will take place from 2-18 February in Doha, Qatar and will feature the sports of swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, open water swimming and high diving.
Coming off a season punctuated by captivating performances and World Records, the competition is set to feature some all-time great swimming, diving and water polo performances in the Qatari capital.
Look for Qatar to shine on the world stage as well. With incredible venues, an experienced event team in place, Doha hosted a memorable World Swimming Championships (25m) in 2014 as well as being a regular World Cup tour stop for swimming, diving and open water.
Fans saw 10 new World Records, 4 World Junior Records and 38 Continental Records as 2,361 athletes from 191 countries and the World Aquatics Refugee Team competed over the course of the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan this past July. For fans watching at home, 320 hours of live video coverage and 17 hours of highlights programmes were distributed worldwide.
Accreditation
We invite all media representatives wishing to cover the World Aquatics Championships – Doha 2024 to submit their accreditation applications individually through the World Aquatics GMS Media Accreditation portal before 10 January 2024, 23:59 CET.
The registration is for all members of the written press, photographic press, online media, and writers and photographers working for publications and/or websites of the World Aquatics National Member Federations.
All international registrations submitted through the World Aquatics GMS will be subject to approval by the World Aquatics Communication Department. All domestic registrations will be subject to approval by the Doha 2024 Organising Committee. Holding a current AIPS membership will aid in one's application, particularly for international media.
If you have already attended a World Aquatics/FINA event, please use your existing World Aquatics GMS account. If you have any issues with registration, please contact gms@worldaquatics.com.
Accredited event media will collect and validate their cards onsite in Doha, Qatar.
A valid travel document containing a photo must be presented to receive media accreditation.
The recording of video material inside any competition or training venue at World Aquatics events is strictly reserved for Rights-Holding Broadcasters. Any breach of this restriction may result in cancellation of the accreditation.
Visa Information
The Organising Committee of the World Aquatics Championships – Doha 2024 offers visitors to Qatar a simplified procedure of obtaining a visa. All visitors must carry their passports, valid for a period of at least six months from the entry date to the country.
Nationals of eligible countries do not require any prior visa arrangements and can obtain a visa waiver upon arrival to Qatar, by presenting a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months and a confirmed onward or return ticket. You can check your eligibility at: https://visitqatar.com/intl-en/practical-info/visas
Media Accreditation to the World Aquatics Championships - Doha 2024 will not function as a visa and will not authorise entry into Qatar. Each media representative will be responsible for ensuring that they have the travel document required for entry.
The Doha 2024 Organising Committee will provide approved accredited media with a visa invitation letter through GMS to support their visa application process, if required.

Two hotels have been secured for accredited media in Doha, all conveniently located near the three competition venues that will be used in the Qatari capital.

The Doha 2024 Organising Committee strongly recommends booking your room(s) as soon as possible in the official hotels. As of now, the championships are planned without keeping the participants in a Covid-19 free bubble – however, if the pandemic situation requires, World Aquatics and the Organising Committee retain the right to implement the necessary measures and may request all accredited participants to stay in official hotels for the event. In this case, the Organising Committee shall not reimburse any media representatives who previously booked their accommodation in non-official hotels.
Should you want more information on event accommodations, please contact Divina Amaro Selario, Event Services Coordinator at damaro@worldaquatics-doha2024.com.
