FINA is pleased to announce that Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife, Spain will host the FINA Women's Water Polo World Super Final 2022 from 2-6 November. 

The 18th edition of the Women’s Super Final will see the best women’s water polo teams in the world go head-to-head at the Real Club Nautico de Tenerife. 

The hosts Spain come into the 18th edition of the Super Final with plenty of momentum, with the Olympic silver medallists from the Tokyo 2020 Games successfully retaining their European Water Polo Championships title earlier this month in Split, Croatia, by downing Greece 9-6 in the final.

The United States will be looking to extend their dominance in international play, where they will be playing for their eighth consecutive Women’s Super Final – and fifteenth overall – event title.

At last year’s FINA Women’s Water Polo Super Final in Athens, Greece, Hungary joined the USA on the podium in silver with Russia claiming bronze.

The USA’s unprecedented run of success in women’s water polo also includes Olympic golds at the London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2020 Games, as well as FINA World Championship titles in Kazan 2015, Budapest 2017, Gwangju 2019 and Budapest 2022.

At the most recent FINA World Championships in Budapest, the USA claimed gold, overcoming hosts Hungary 9-7 in the final with the Netherlands taking bronze.

An actioned-packed five days of world’s class water polo in Santa Cruz will see the following eight teams compete for $345,000 USD in prize money:
