ABU DHABI (UAE) - The opening press conference for the 15th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) 2021 and the FINA Aquatics Festival in Abu Dhabi gets underway on 15 December at 11:30 GMT (15:30 local time) from Market Street on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, following the Mixed Relay (4 x 1500m) open water swim.
The press conference will commence with a host of sports governance leaders, including FINA President Husain Al-Musallam, FINA Executive Director Brent Nowicki, His Excellency Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the host of the event, and Sultan Al Samahi, President of the UAE Swimming Federation.
Olympic champion and 1500m freestyle short course world record holder Gregorio Paltrinieri (ITA) and fellow gold medallist Ana Marcela Cunha (BRA) will then take the stage alongside other aquatics athletes competing in the swimming, diving and high diving disciplines.
The press conference will be streamed LIVE at FINA.org and on the FINA YouTube channel. Media not in Abu Dhabi may send questions to FINA Media before the event. As seating is limited, accredited event media are encouraged to reserve their place by emailing FINA@SevenMedia.ae.
In addition to the 15th edition of the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) that runs from 16-21 December, the competition programme features the FINA Aquatics Festival. A first of its kind, the festival brings the disciplines diving, high diving, and open water swimming alongside the World Championships.
Taking place in a compact cluster in the heart of the city’s waterfront, spectators can take in the FINA World Swimming Championships, FINA High Diving Qualifier, FINA Diving Team Exhibition, and the FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series 2021 – Grand Finale with the trendsetting Open Water Swim Mixed Relay.
