The Kazan Arena usually
hosts Russian premier league matches, but for two weeks this summer it
will be home to swimming and synchronised swimming competitions during the
FINA World Championships. As well as the pair of 50m pools, a
temporary roof now covers the stadium and about
11,000 seats have been constructed inside.

be hosted for the first time at this level of competition. The mixed

Before the start of the Aquatic festival, FINA will hold an Extraordinary Congress on July 23 in Kazan, where the delegates of its National Member Federations will discuss and vote changes to the Constitutional Rules.
For the first time in FINA history, the FINA World Masters Championships will be integrated to the World Championships to create a global aquatic festival for three weeks, taking advantage of the same venues and synergy. The World Masters Championships will start on August 5 and will run through August 16.

The FINA Masters Committee representatives visited Kazan last week to inspect the readiness of the venues that will also be used for the 16th FINA World Masters Championships. The delegates took a tour of the Accreditation Centre, Akcharlak Swimming Pool, Olympic Swimming Pool and Kazanka Venue where open water swimming events will take place.
In parallel, the construction works at the Kazanka Venue are coming to a conclusion. The temporary infrastructure, the high diving tower, the broadcasters’ tower and the spectator stands, has been fully assembled.
