The International Testing Agency (ITA), which oversees World Aquatics' anti-doping programme, collected 684 samples from 360 athletes of 71 nationalities in the fourth quarter of 2025.

This follows an extremely busy third quarter of 2025, during which 1,403 samples from 894 athletes of 104 nationalities were collected, a period of time when the World Aquatics Championships - Singapore 2025 took place.

Of the total samples collected in Q4 of 2025:

  • 426 Urine
  • 258 Blood
  • 51% Female / 49% Male
  • Swimming athletes were most frequently tested
  • Athletes from Europe were most frequently tested

These figures reflect a coordinated international effort to promote clean sport, uphold fair play, and maintain transparency in the fight against doping.

The Aquatics Integrity Unit’s full 2025 Anti-Doping Testing Statistics report, outlining the scope of last year’s anti-doping programme across aquatic sports, will be published soon.
