The LA28 sports schedule also confirms a historic swap of the athletics and swimming events, with swimming anchoring the Olympic programme during the second week of competition at SoFi Stadium. With the NFL home to the LA Chargers and LA Rams, SoFi is set to be transformed into the largest swimming venue in Olympic history for its splashy debut.

Swimming | Inglewood | 22-30 July

Medals will be awarded every day from Olympic Days 8-16 in swimming, with the first golds of the competition coming in the Men’s and Women’s 400m Freestyle and 4x100m Freestyle Relay winners. The final session of the LA28 Games will include the Men’s and Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay, Women’s 800m Freestyle, Women’s 200m Butterfly and the Women’s 50m Freestyle.

You might have also heard something about the fastest swims being on the biggest stage, with the debut of all the strokes and six new medal events – the men’s and women’s 50m backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly – for the first time in Olympic history.

Diving | Pasadena | 16-22 July & 25-28 July

Running through the heart of the LA28 Olympic Games programme from Olympic days 3-14, diving will dole out gold medals with the following finals line-up as China looks to repeat its history-making eight golds at the Paris 2024 Games, while divers for other countries look to crash the party and own the top step of the podium at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center.

Water Polo | Long Beach | 12-23 July

With 11 days of competition, three sessions a day and two matches per session for the six days of preliminary play, there’s ample opportunity to catch epic water polo action. Lock in for the bronze and gold medal matches on Day 8 of the Games for the men and Day 9 for the women at the Long Beach Aquatics Center.

With women having 12 countries competing at these Games for the first time, The LA28 Olympic Games will feature a record-breaking number of female Olympians, with every team sport featuring an equal or greater number of women’s teams compared to men’s teams for the first time, and 50.5 per cent of the total athlete quota allocated to women across the 36 sports and 51 disciplines.

Artistic Swimming | Long Beach | 25-29 July

Dynamic duos will take to the water first with the Duet Final taking place on Day 12 of the Games and the Team Event Final closing out artistic swimming on Day 15 at the Long Beach Aquatics Center. The day of the Team Event Final is set to be the most action-packed day of the LA28 Games, with 'Super Saturday' featuring 26 finals sessions across 23 sports.

This includes 15 gold and bronze medal team sport matches, alongside artistic swimming, basketball, beach volleyball, BMX, boxing, canoe sprint, cricket, track cycling, equestrian, football, golf, hockey, lacrosse, rhythmic gymnastics, softball, sport climbing, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, wrestling, weightlifting and the marathon.

Open Water Swimming | Long Beach | 17-18 July

10km to take it all! Head to the Belmont Shore along the Long Beach waterfront to watch the women on Olympic Day 3 and the men on Day 4 as the aquatics endurance elite battle in the Pacific Ocean as they go the distance for gold in the 2028 Olympic Open Water Swimming competitions.

Details for the football (soccer) tournament, which will stage matches in stadiums across the country, including several final stage matches at the Rose Bowl Stadium, will be announced at a later date.
