Read what the top diving performers had to say during the World Aquatics Championships - Singapore 2025.
Chiara Pellacani (ITA), Gold, Mixed 3m Synchro
"It feels incredible. We worked hard for this. We’ve known each other for so long. He was four years old and I was eight years old, and we started diving together. We grew up together, and it’s like a brother-sister relationship. I think this really helped us on the board because we trust each other and it just makes everything easier.”
Matteo Santoro (ITA), Gold, Mixed 3m Synchro
“Me and Chiara are so happy. We didn’t expect to take the gold and beat the Chinese pair. I have no words. We cried because there’s so many emotions."
Maddison Keeney (AUS), Gold, Women's 1m
“It was more (from) me because I know that with the high level of difficulty list, I have the potential to win maybe more easily than others. I am really grateful for having the opportunity to put myself in a difficult position under a lot of pressure and still perform well.”
“I’m really lucky I was talented enough that I was able to do such difficult dives and I think that the more people see it, they want to try it. There were a lot of girls in there trying a few new dives, which is really exciting and I think it’s really important. Even though I’m getting a bit older now, I think if I can do it, anyone else can do it. I didn’t know that I was gonna be a kind of leader like that, but it makes me really happy that people can look up to me like that.”
Chen Yuxi (CHN), Gold, Women's 10m
“When I saw the score, I was in disbelief. It’s not easy to score 430 points. Before the competition, I didn’t expect to be able to get this score.”
“After the Olympics, I was actually a little shaken. I haven’t been in the best condition after the Olympics, so I have to thank my teammates and coaches for their support and encouragement so that I could perform the way I did today. Winning this event here has really increased my level of confidence. There’s actually still a lot of room for improvement, and I’ll continue to work hard when I get back.”
Pauline Alexandra Pfeif (GER), Silver, Women's 10m
“I am not sure how I feel. I’ve never dreamed of almost beating China. I’m emotional right now. It’s just amazing, I won’t complain about anything. I’m really happy that I can get Germany a medal.”
“If someone told me last year that I would be this successful in the entire year, I wouldn’t believe them. But now I’m at the end, and I also had the Europeans, then University Games, now here. Wow, it’s a lot, but it’s a good kind of a lot – it’s positive.”
Gabriela Agundez Garcia (MEX), Silver, Women's 10m Synchro
“This is the first year we’re competing together and I feel really happy because it’s my first medal at the world championships in synchro. I’m grateful to share this with Alejandra.”
Wang Zongyuan (CHN), Gold, Men's 3m Synchro
“I’ve taken part in this event at four world championships. I’m pleased with today’s showing, and it’s also the highest score out of all four times. My partner did really well today, and I was also able to perform to expectations.”
“I haven’t been partnering with Jiuyuan for a very long time – it’s only been about a month plus. To be able to have this showing today, I think it’s down to how much we communicate with each other during training, we talk about technique, and we also train hard. We are the first in and the last out.”
Juan Manuel Celaya Hernandez (MEX), Silver, Men's 3m Synchro
“It’s amazing. It’s proof of the things that we’re doing right working with our coach MA Jin. I’m definitely happy with the performance because we beat our score from Paris, so it’s a PB (personal best) for us, so we’re going to keep working on details so that next time we can get the gold.”
Jack Laugher (GBR), Bronze, Men's 3m Synchro
“It’s great for us. We both took a long time off this year, me especially. We’ve had a really interesting year – Anthony’s first year after an Olympic Games. Coming into that cycle, it can be a bit of a lull sometimes but I think we’ve worked through it really well. We’ve changed a lot in our lives, in a new club with a new coach, so to come out with a bronze medal today is super positive. I think it puts me in good stead for the individual later this week.”
Zheng Jiuyuan (CHN), Gold, Men's 1m
“I’m very happy because this is my fourth world championships. I’ve been on the podium before but never at the top (for an individual event). I have to give myself credit for persevering and continuing to work hard in this event. I also have to thank the coaches and my family for believing in me.”
Osmar Olvera Ibarra (MEX), Gold, Men's 3m
“I feel amazing. It’s a dream come true, to be a world champion in this dream year, in an Olympic event. And now I am really happy. I'm really satisfied. I got it today, and I’m still working for next year to keep this level, and still fighting with the Chinese divers.”
"One of my goals, to get 100 points in a dive. I got it today, (and also the) gold medal, and I am really happy to achieve those two things. (I felt) a lot of pressure (for the sixth dive). I knew I needed a great dive, so I just focused, controlled myself and did my job.”
Carson Tyler (USA), Bronze, Men's 10m Synchro
"It means a lot. It’s been a long road of training, coming back from the Olympics…we really put a lot of effort into this medal, so it means a ton."
Joshua Hedberg (USA), Bronze, Men's 10m Synchro
"It means a lot. This is my first senior world medal, and I can’t be happier. I think we just tried to step it up for the finals, dive when it counts, and just perform our best."
Rin Kaneto (JPN), Bronze, Mixed 3m & 10m Team
“This is my first international competition after having surgery on my knees. This is a big comeback, and this medal is for the whole Japan team, all the divers who are competing. This has been a very tough journey. I spent a lot of time in rehab. I was thinking it would be very hard to come back to this level."
Chen Yiwen (CHN), Gold, Women's 3m
“Today is like seeing the result of all the training I’ve done. Actually, to execute my dives so well today is a bit of a surprise, because I’ve been a bit tired the last two days and my training since I arrived here hasn’t been ideal."
Yasmin Harper HARPER (GBR), Silver, Women's 3m Synchro
“Me and Scarlett, we very happy and really pleased. Coming off last year’s Olympic medal, we were definitely setting the expectation of a medal again. But also, we were really focusing on the performance today, so we’re really pleased that we performed well and ended up with a silver medal.”
Lia Cueva Lobato (MEX), Bronze, Women's 3m Synchro
“Sometimes me and my twin partner Mia can read each others’ minds. We say to each other ‘we can do it!’ and ‘vamos!’ in between dives. Before each dive we go to our coach Iván BAUTISTA. He tells us that we can do it, he tells us to think about how we want it to go, he tries to calm us down and motivate us so that we do well."
Cassiel Rousseau (AUS), Gold, Men's 10m
"It definitely feels amazing. From Fukuoka, this is definitely unexpected. I don’t have any words besides wanting to thank everyone that has supported me from home and here. The support staff have been amazing and it’s just been an incredible competition.”
“Diving has a lot of chops and changes, that’s why I love it. You have to have six of the most consistent dives on the day itself, so if we had to compete tomorrow, it could have been a completely different podium. Thankfully, today, it was me and I was able to hold out for the six dives and become first.”
Oleksii Sereda (UKR), Silver, Men's 10m
“I feel happy. I get the silver medal, (it’s the) first in my life. I see progress, and I'm feeling great. It’s a really great feeling when you’re working and you get a result. So I will be working even more to be the first.”
"Always when I compete somewhere, I’m thinking ‘Okay, I can be third’, because the Chinese are first and second all the time. But today is a different day, and it was unexpected.”
