World Aquatics has planned an extensive range of activities aimed at supporting the development of the global aquatics community during the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025.
Many of these events will promote the theme of sustainability, underlining World Aquatics’ commitment to inspiring social responsibility.
Nearly 2,500 athletes from a record 206 registered countries will participate at the World Aquatics Championships through to 3 August, and they will each have the opportunity to participate in these activities.
“World Aquatics is proud to have strengthened our development programmes in recent years, and the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore presents an important opportunity to engage directly with our athletes from around the world,” World Aquatics President Husain Al Musallam said.
“We are very grateful for the continued fantastic work of the Development and Athletes’ Services team, and our global partners in delivering a range of activities aimed at all stakeholders in the global aquatics family.
"I am confident that through these activities, Singapore 2025 will help to shape an even brighter future for aquatic sports"
Athlete and coach workshops
Throughout the World Aquatics Championships, members of the World Aquatics Development and Athletes’ Services team, Singapore 2025 ambassadors and dedicated experts will deliver workshops aimed at athletes and coaches of each of the six aquatic sports.
For athletes, these sessions will focus on important topics, including environmental sustainability and fuelling performance with plant-based proteins.
Coaches’ workshops will feature topics including sustainable development and understanding injuries.
These interactive workshops aim to inspire a global movement for sustainability in aquatics, and further details will be published throughout Singapore 2025. Stay tuned!
Continental Organisations and Member Federations meetings
As with previous major events, most recently the World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) in Budapest in December 2024, the World Aquatics Development and Athletes’ Services Team will engage with Continental Organisations and Member Federations throughout Singapore 2025.
These are two key stakeholder groups in the development of aquatic sports around the world, and the meetings will help to ensure their direct engagement in shaping plans for the future, including the implementation of key sustainability initiatives.
World Aquatics Scholarships and Mentorship programmes
Initiatives aimed at World Aquatics Scholarship Programme holders are also planned during Singapore 2025, helping athletes to make the most of the opportunities available to them through the programme.
In-person training for the World Aquatics Mentorship Programme will also take place at the World Aquatics Championships, providing mentors with expert training and education to support their work with mentees in 2026.
World Aquatics Athletes’ Lounges
Each of the venues being used for the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 will have dedicated Athletes’ Lounges available for athletes to use.
The Athletes’ Lounges are designed as welcoming, comfortable spaces for athletes to recharge, unwind and connect with their peers from around the world.
A broad range of interactive activities and entertainment will be available for athletes, and they can also complete a short survey for the opportunity to win prizes.
Biomechanical feedback from Russell Mark
From 27 July-3 August, renowned expert Russell Mark will be at the World Aquatics Championships Arena Training Pool offering tailored biomechanical analysis for athletes.
Mark uses underwater video footage to provide technologically driven advice on improving technique and performance.
Athletes must register to take advantage of these 15-minute sessions.
Anti-Doping Conference
The Aquatics Integrity Unit (AQIU) will host an Anti-Doping Conference on 25 July to help all stakeholders within the sport stay informed on the latest anti-doping rules, best practices and global efforts to protect the integrity of aquatic sports.
The Anti-Doping Conference will be open to all athletes, coaches, athlete support personnel and team officials, and all Member Federations are required to have at least one representative in attendance.
This reflects World Aquatics’ steadfast commitment to promoting clean sport and fair competition for athletes.
World Aquatics Medical Seminar
The World Aquatics Medical Seminar will take place on 2 August at the World Aquatics Championships Arena, led by experts in sports medicine and science. This will offer valuable insights into athlete health, wellbeing and performance optimisation.
These topics will include physiotherapeutic assessment, shoulder health, injury prevention strategies tailored to the demands of competitive swimming, biomechanics and nutrition.
The Medical Seminar will especially focus on young athletes, facilitating their enhanced recovery and development.
