With just 100 days until the start of the World Aquatics Championships - Singapore 2025, preparations are ramping up. The first major community initiative, the SG60 Swim Challenge, opened the activities today at the Bukit Canberra Swimming Complex.
This inaugural event brought together over 80 members of the sporting community to celebrate swimming, fitness, and camaraderie.
Mr Edwin Tong, Singapore’s Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Law, signalled the start of the challenge. The SG60 Swim Challenge aims to inspire people of all ages to stay active and foster connections through swimming.
A Milestone Event with Standout Singapore Sportspersons
Kicking off the SG60 Swim Challenge, three teams of 18 swimmers collectively completed the first 60 laps of the initiative. Among them were prominent figures, including Singapore Aquatics President Prof. Kenneth Goh, Team Singapore swimmers Teong Tzen Wei and Megan Yo, open water swimmer Artyom Lukasevits, former water polo player Marcus Ng and Asian Games double gold medallist Tao Li.
Running from 2 April to 30 June 2025, the Challenge aims to get people to swim 300,000 total laps (50m). Participants can join individually by swimming six laps per day or as part of a team to complete 60 laps weekly.
