With the competition taking place at the Duna Arena, fans and athletes are set for a brilliant atmosphere in one of the world’s top swimming venues. Built in record time of less than two years, the Arena served as the main venue of the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. Back in 2022, more than 5,000 fans lit up the venue when the World Aquatics Championships returned to the city, and this December promises to be no different. The Duna Arena boasts two Olympic-size pools – the main pool which is 3m deep, and a second pool with an adjustable depth.

This year’s event will feature 108 races, across all four strokes. Known for their fast pace and close finishes, short-course championships bring frequent wall-touches, and are famously unpredictable, often resulting in record-breaking performances.

At the most recent World Swimming Championships (25m) in Melbourne, Australia, athletes set 14 World Records, 6 World Junior Records and 23 Championship Records. With swimmers coming into these short course World Championships following the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2024 season, fans can expect more records in Hungary’s capital next month.

World Aquatics continues to work closely with its trusted partners in the Organising Committee, the Hungarian Swimming Association, city of Budapest and the Hungarian government to create an outstanding setting for the athletes to perform at their best.
