LAUSANNE (SUI)—World Aquatics' showcase swimming-only event is heading to Budapest. The 17th edition of the World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) will take place for the first time in the Hungarian capital from 10 to 15 December 2024.

Coming as the capstone to a swimming season punctuated by numerous World and Olympic Records set in the pool, 1,000 athletes from over 180 countries are expected to shine across 46 events over six event days as they compete for a $2.025 USD million prize purse, in addition to $25,000 USD for any World Record set during the Championships.

Look for Budapest to sparkle on the global stage as well. Hungary's longstanding success in swimming is matched by Budapest's wealth of experience hosting top-level events. This background includes organising memorable editions of the World Aquatics Championships in 2017 and 2022 and more than 20 World Cups, including the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup finals last October.

Both the morning sessions and evening finals will be broadcast live on free-to-air through World Aquatics international broadcast partners and live stream platforms.
