Shortly after Yona Knight-Wisdom Olympic appearance in Paris 2024, the 29-year-old organized his second diving camp in Jamaica, a 10-day diving camp that culminated in a public diving show.
Yona Knight-Wisdom’s Olympic journey began with a breakthrough moment in 2016 when he secured a spot at the 2016 Olympics and a silver medal in the 3m springboard event at the World Diving Cup in Rio de Janeiro — Jamaica’s first-ever medal in an international diving competition.
The 3m semi-finalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics made history as the first Jamaican male diver to compete at the Olympics in the 2016 Rio Olympics - 44 years after Betsy Sullivan became the country's first Olympian in the sport at the 1972 Olympics in Munich.
While Yona’s diving achievements are historic, his influence extends beyond his own diving career. Shortly after his Olympic appearance in Paris, the 29-year-old organized his second diving camp in Jamaica, a 10-day diving camp culminating in a public diving show.
“I wanted to make sure that there was something left after my own career, for young Jamaican people” – said the Jamaican Olympian Yona Knight-Wisdom.
“The diving camp was successful, and I aim to build a diving team in Jamaica that can compete at the international level.”
The three-time Olympian also ensures using his social media platforms to advocate for the sport's development in his home country, engage the public with diving, raise awareness about the sport, and inspire future athletes to grow and thrive.
