The unveiling took place following the World Aquatics 2023 Swimmers of the Year awards show and the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2023 season that concluded over the weekend in Budapest’s Duna Arena.

The event draws the world’s top swimmers and will be the first major aquatics championship after the swimmers heat up the pools in the French capital for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

David Szanto, the Hungarian Swimming Federation's Head of International Competition Management and Communications, hinted at the design inspiration before the logo unveiling.

"We wanted a logo that evoked both the past and the future, that connects you, that connects Hungary with the world.

"We wanted to choose a landmark that symbolises all of this."

The Budapest 2024 logo depicts the Chain Bridge, the city's oldest suspension bridge that spans the Danube River, that connects both sides of the city - Buda and Pest.

In hosting the event, Budapest looks set to make history as the first city to ever host the World Aquatics Championships, World Aquatics World Swimming Championships (25m), World Aquatics Junior Championships and a World Aquatics Swimming World Cup meet.
