LAUSANNE (Switzerland) – The marina venue of Fajardo slots in as the fourth of five FINA Marathon Swim World Series event stops and will take place from 7-9 October 2022. The event will feature both the individual men's and women's 10km and the 6km Team Relay.  

The October event will be the first time Puerto Rico has hosted a FINA World Series in any discipline and will also feature a FINA Open Water Swimming School programme alongside the competition. 

The updated locations and dates for the FINA Marathon Swim World Series 2022:

  • 28-29 May, Setubal (POR) – Leg 1
  • 9-10 July, Paris (FRA) – Leg 2
  • 26-28 August, Lac Mégantic (CAN) – Leg 3
  • 7-9 October, Fajardo (PUR) – Leg 4
  • 11-12 November, Eilat (ISR) – Leg 5

Originally scheduled for 4-7 December, the Marathon Swimming event in Eilat has been moved to November to make for a more compact competition season and allow for the open water elite to also compete at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m). 

Following feedback from FINA Member Federations, the FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in Mahé, Seychelles also has new event dates and will now take place from 16-18 September 2022.
