Before her third participation in this circuit, her statistics were already impressive: 71 gold medals and six World Records. In terms of victories, only two athletes in the history of the World Cup had done better: Martina Moravcova (SVK), with 105 successes, and Therese Alshammar (SWE) with 93 triumphs. At Hosszu’s rhythm, these two landmarks in the history of the competition could soon be improved. After the first day in Doha, Hosszu has 75 wins and the 2014 edition has just started!

Moreover, the WR counter continues to progress, with her eighth world best mark so far: in 2012, there were no WR in the World Cup; in 2013, she improves six of them in the 100m IM (three times), 200m IM (twice) and 400m IM. The medley events are definitively her trademark so far in the World Cup, with a new best global time in the 200m IM (2:02.61) on the first day in Doha and the even fresher new WR in the 100m IM.

“I’ve had a great start here. I feel unstoppable, it has given me a
confidence rush. I hope I can go faster tonight”, she simply said after
her morning effort.

For the record, Katinka Hosszu (aged 25), has also six medals (including three gold) at the FINA World Championships, five podium presences (two victories) at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), and 24 awards at European level (long and short course). Only one thing is missing: the Olympic consecration.
