South Africa's Chad Le Clos and Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden maintained their leading position in the 2017 ranking of the FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup this weekend in Hong Kong (HKG), where the first leg of the second Cluster took place on Saturday September 30 and Sunday October 1.

After a four-week break, the Swedish ace pocketed five gold medals throughout the two-day competition: She was the best in the 50/100/200m free as well as in the 50 and 100m fly.

Katinka Hosszu of Hungary showed excellent form and claimed six gold medals this weekend: She won all backstroke races (50/100/200m) as well as the three IM races (100/200/400). Hosszu seconds Sjostrom in the ranking with 272 points, against 353 for Sjostrom.

Alia Atkinson (JAM) took gold in her pet events, the 50 and 100m breast, while China's Li Bingjie secured the 800m free gold medal.

Vladimir Morozov (RUS) won a duel with Le Clos in the 100m free, before adding the 100m IM to his tally on Day 1. He then concluded the meet with a victory in the 50m free on Sunday.

Le Clos took gold in the 50/100 fly as well as the 200m free, while compatriot Cameron Van der Burgh was the best in the 50/100m breast. Another South Africans swimming best, Ayrton Sweeney, won the 400m IM race.
