  • World Aquatics Championships Singapore 2025  

The World Aquatics Medical Seminar in Singapore built on the inaugural edition at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships – Budapest 2024, and had a particular focus on enhancing injury prevention, recovery and development of young athletes. 

The seminar offered a dynamic program featuring interactive workshops and sessions on a range of critical topics. Key areas of focus included: 

Assessment of Elite Swimmers - A Physiotherapist Approach (D. Moedas, POR) The Rotator Cuff Dilemma: Rethinking Shoulder Health in Competitive Swimmers (D. Kin, SGP) Recovery and Nutrition - Supplements (Dr. Safwat, EGY) Injury prevention strategies in elite swimmers (R. Smyth, IRL) Biomechanics and injury prevention (R. Mark, USA) Recovery in competitive swimming: integrating science with athlete-centered practice (Dr. Taim, Dr. Choo and Ms. Zhou, SGP)

  • World Aquatics Swimming Championships Budapest 2024 

As part of the World Aquatics Swimming Championships Budapest 2024, we successfully organised a medical seminar in cooperation with Semmelweis University of Budapest aimed at providing valuable information and sharing expertise with doctors, physiotherapists, other medical personnel and coaches involved in athlete care. 

The seminar featured interactive workshops on critical topics, including:

Our keynote sessions brought together experts to discuss Medical Care of Athletes over the year through insights and experiences from four teams' doctors. 

Presentation - Dr. Robert Brunelle, Team Canada Presentation - Dr. Nóra Sydo, Team Hungary Presentation - Dr. Takuro Uchida, Team Japan Presentation - Dr. Ankit Shah, Team USA

The focus of the seminar revolved around shoulder recovery, a crucial subject for athletes, particularly swimmers. The discussion was enriched by perspectives from an Athlete, who shared firsthand experiences and challenges in recovery; a Team Physician, who outlined the medical approach to shoulder injuries; and a Coach, who provided insight into training adaptations during recovery. 

This seminar fostered a collaborative exchange of ideas, advancing knowledge in sports medicine and athlete health care.
