Injury Prevention

  • Knee Injury Prevention

All the aquatic sports test the knee to its limits. This video will demonstrate how maximal power is produced by the knee, starting with lower-body core power through strength training, hip strength and stability, and finally a strong and flexible knee. The exercises shown in this video will help the athlete avoid knee injury by learning to use the production of core strength, then transmitting the power from the core through the hip in its various positions and into the knee to produce its multidirectional forces.

  • Lumbar Spine Injury Prevention

The low back is one of the most common sights seen for physical injuries in the aquatic disciplines. This video discusses the prevalence and causes of low back pain and injuries among elite swimmers.

  • Shoulder Injury Prevention

Shoulder joint injury is the most common injury seen in all of the aquatic disciplines of swimming, artistic swimming, diving, open water swimming, and water polo. This video will describe how the shoulder joint functions and then show a series of exercises to best protect the shoulder from injury and prevent time loss from training and competition.
