World Aquatics is issuing a final reminder for applications to the 2025-26 World Aquatics Scholarship Programme - a transformative opportunity for aquatics athletes from around the world in the lead-up to the Olympic Games LA28.

Launched in 2014, the Scholarship Programme has been instrumental in providing both financial and technical support to athletes who hold international potential but face challenges in accessing high-performance training locally.

This year, World Aquatics is proud to offer three-year scholarships in swimming, open water swimming and diving for the first time, along with one-year scholarships in water polo and artistic swimming. This will support athletes’ preparations for LA28, and benefit:

  • 100 Swimmers
  • 20 Open Water Swimmers
  • 20 Divers
  • 10 Artistic Swimming Duets
  • 20 Water Polo Players

In another first on this year’s Scholarship Programme, National Federations can make applications for two athletes in swimming, diving and water polo – one male and one female athlete.

Continental representation and gender equality will be prioritised, ensuring diversity across the cohort. The majority of athletes will be placed at one of our world-class World Aquatics Training Centres, located in:

Antibes (France), Budapest (Hungary), Bahrain, Thanyapura (Thailand), Bond University (Australia), Azura Florida (USA), and Toronto (Canada).

The 2024 programme was a resounding success, with scholarship athletes delivering outstanding performances across several competitions. Athletes training at the World Aquatics Antibes Centre celebrated a landmark 100th national record during the World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) in Budapest in December 2024.

Among them was Kevin Teixeira of Andorra, who set two national records in a single day at the Championships.

“It helps you improve not just in swimming but as a person. The advice and connections made through the programme are life-changing.”
