With less than one year to go to the 20th FINA World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, the Fukuoka 2022 Organising Committee is bringing the local community together through a number of engaging aquatics initiatives over the coming months.
Set to take place from 14 to 30 July 2023, at the state-of-the-art 15,000-capacity Marine Messe Fukuoka Hall, the showcase global aquatics event is expected to feature 2,000 top athletes from over 190 countries.
In the lead-up to this global celebration of swimming, Rio 2016 Olympic gold medalist Rie Kaneto is set to host several swim clinics throughout the city of Fukuoka from 1 October to 10 December 2022. More than 150 local children will have the opportunity to receive swimming tips and guidance from the Japanese star. The clinics will be held on the following dates and locations:
- 1 October - Hakata Civic Pool, Fukuoka
- 1 October - Higashi Civic Pool, Fukuoka
- 6 November - Chuo Civic Pool, Fukuoka
- 10 December - Minami Civic Pool, Fukuoka
- 10 December - Sawara Civic Pool, Fukuoka
In addition, an official Fukuoka 2022 pop-up booth will appear at various locations, including the Fukuoka Marathon 2022, over the next few months to promote activities in the lead-up to the 20th FINA World Championships in Fukuoka. The booth will feature mascot appearances, sell official Fukuoka 2022 merchandise and offer virtual reality experiences for visitors.
