In the course of the visit, the experts visited competition venues, airport custom control posts, met representatives of relevant governmental agencies, FINA, Organising Committee and others.

The experts were impressed with the provisions put in place by the Russian authorities and expressed a view that the results of the visit will be extremely helpful in developing common European approach to information sharing in the anti-doping field.

Chair of the FINA Doping Control Review Board Prof. Andrew Pipe (CAN) said: “It was a pleasure to participate in this meeting and to share FINA’s experience and perspectives concerning these anti-doping concepts. We have been impressed by the diligence with which these issues are being addressed by the organisers of the FINA 2015 World Championships and the quality of the anti-doping services in place in Kazan.”

Head of the Sport Conventions Division Sergey Khrychikov:” We are able to observe an impressive system of sharing of information related to the transportation of doping substances and related materials developed by the Russian authorities. The information about this unique system is clearly worth sharing internationally and can be used as a basis for preparing policy recommendation on this matter for other state parties to the Council of Europe Anti-Doping Convention.

Advisor to the Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Natalia Zhelanova: “For the first time we developed and implemented a system of information sharing with the law enforcement bodies so-called “Police Anti-Doping Network", in the period of preparation and holding the Olympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi. The system aimed to identify the transportation and possession of prohibited substances and methods by athletes and entourage. Now, in cooperation with FINA, we are implementing this system during the World Championships in Kazan. I believe that the use of such a system is a huge step forward in the fight against doping and it can be the basis of "Intelligent Testing", which WADA urges all anti-doping organisations to implement it.
