“The Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre is now recognised as one of the premier facilities to host provincial, national and international competitions,” said Mayor Eddie Francis.
“We are honoured to host the prestigious FINA/NVC Diving World Series and to welcome the world’s best divers at the end of May. We are pleased to be part of the FINA family, and we look forward to welcoming the world to Windsor again when we host the FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships in 2016.”
The FINA/NVC Diving World Series in Windsor will be broadcast to an international viewing audience of over 390 million with coverage expected in China, Russia, Australia, Germany, the United States, Great Britain, Mexico, and the Middle East.
“Thanks to the international and national broadcast deals in place, Windsor will definitely be on the world stage in a few months’ time,” says Penny Joyce, Chief Operating Officer of Diving Plongeon Canada, the national sport governing body for Canadian diving that is also the main organiser of the event.
“For the people of Windsor and surrounding area, the event is a great opportunity to witness in person the spectacular acrobatics, the athleticism and the grace of diving, and learn more about one of Canada’s most successful Olympic sports.”
