The Aquatics Integrity Unit (AQIU) has published anti-doping testing statistics for the second quarter of 2025, highlighting the scale and global reach of the anti-doping programme in aquatic sports.
The International Testing Agency (ITA), which oversees World Aquatics' anti-doping programme, collected 1,845 samples from 911 athletes of 82 nationalities in the second quarter of 2025.
Out-of-competition testing accounted for the vast majority of samples, with 1,638 collected outside of competition periods. In-competition testing yielded an additional 207 samples.
Of the total samples collected in Q2 of 2025:
- 1,369 Urine
- 476 Blood
For reference, the World Aquatics' anti-doping programme overseen by the ITA collected 1,413 samples from 680 athletes of 63 nationalities in the first quarter of 2025.
