For the Women’s 10km Marathon Swimming event two athletes – Leonie Martens (GER) and Ginevra Taddeucci (ITA) – qualified with their 800m pool times. As a result of qualifying through this pathway, Martens and Taddeucci are also required to compete in the 800m swimming competition at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

For the Men’s 10km Marathon Swimming event, 11 athletes qualified to compete through their pool swimming performances. Six athletes – Felix Auboeck (AUT), Guilherme Costa (BRA), Daniel Wiffen (IRL), Kuzey Tuncelli (TUR), Emir Batur Albayrak (TUR), David Johnston (USA) – qualified with their 800m pool times. Five athletes – Carlos Garach Benito (ESP), Kim Woomin (KOR), Henrik Christiansen (NOR), Victor Johansson (SWE), Ahmed Jaouadi (TUN) – qualified with their 1500m pool times. As a result of qualifying through this pathway, these 11 athletes are also required to compete in either the 800m or 1500m swimming competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

QUALIFICATION PROCEDURE
Two (2) events are included in the program of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for Marathon Swimming: Men's 10km and Women's 10km.

ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY
Compliance with the Olympic Charter and other relevant rules
All athletes must respect and comply with the provisions of the Olympic Charter currently in force, including but not limited to Rule 41 (Nationality of Competitors) and Rule 43 (World Anti-Doping Code and the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions).
Only those athletes who respect and comply with the Olympic Charter, the World Anti-Doping Code and the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions, including the conditions of participation established by the IOC, plus the rules of World Aquatics, may participate in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
Additional eligibility criteria/requirements
Only the athletes who are eligible to participate at the official World Aquatics competitions, in accordance with the World Aquatics Competition Regulations, are entitled to participate in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

1. World Aquatics Championships – Fukuoka (JPN) 2023
The first three (3) finishers from the 10K event – men and women – will earn a quota place for Paris 2024. In the case of a tie for the 3rd position, all athletes involved in the tie will obtain a quota place for Paris 2024. |

2. World Aquatics Championships - Doha (QAT) 2024 The thirteen (13) highest placed athletes from the 10K competition, at the 21st World Aquatics Championships Doha (QAT) 2024 – men and women – will obtain a quota place for their NOC for Paris 2024. Notes: - Athletes qualified from point 1 above will count as one (1) quota for their respective NOCs. Therefore, in the event of having these athletes within the top thirteen (13) at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha (QAT) 2024, the next highest placed athlete will obtain a quota place for their NOC. - If the host country has already obtained its quota from point 1 or 2 above, then the next highest placed athletes from the World Aquatics World Championships Doha 2024 will obtain a quota place for their NOC. |

Continental Representation The highest placed eligible athlete in the 10K event from the World Aquatics Championships in Doha (QAT) 2024 – Men and Women – from each of five (5) Continents will obtain a quota place for their respective NOC. Only one (1) athlete per continent shall qualify from this point. In the event that an NOC from a specific continent has previously obtained one (1) or two (2) quota places, the selection process will move to the next highest eligible NOC from that continent in the World Aquatics World Championships Doha 2024 to ensure that each continent selects a competitor. |

Host Country quota The host country will automatically qualify one (1) male and one (1) female athlete from the World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024 only if the host country has not previously qualified an athlete (or athletes) from points 1 or 2 above. |
The host country will automatically qualify one (1) quota for men and one (1) quota for women, a total of two (2) quotas for their NOC.
CONFIRMATION PROCESS FOR QUOTA PLACES
Following the World Aquatics Championships in Doha (QAT) 2024, World Aquatics will publish the results on its website (www.worldaquatics.com) and inform the respective NOCs of their qualified athletes. The NOCs will then have two (2) weeks to confirm if they wish to enter these athletes, as detailed in paragraph H. Qualification Timeline.
CONFIRMATION OF HOST COUNTRY PLACES
Following the World Aquatics Championships - Doha 2024, AQUA will publish the results on its website (www.worldaquatics.com/) and inform the host NOC of their qualified quota position(s). The host NOC will then have two (2) weeks to confirm if they wish to enter these quota places, as detailed in paragraph H. Qualification Timeline.
REALLOCATION OF UNUSED QUOTA PLACES
If an allocated quota place is not confirmed by the NOC by the confirmation of quota place deadline or is declined by the NOC, the quota place will be reallocated to the next highest placed NOC in the same gender from the Olympic Games Qualification event not yet qualified, respecting the maximum number of quota places per NOC, as outlined above.
Unused host country place(s), including in the case of qualification through the process in paragraph D. Qualification Pathway, will be reallocated to the next highest placed NOC in the same gender from the Olympic Games Qualification event not yet qualified, respecting the maximum number of quota places per NOC as outlined above.
ADDITIONAL PLACES
In addition to the process above, any NOC with qualified pool athletes who have achieved an Olympic Qualification Time (OQT) in either the 800-meter or 1500-meter freestyle (for both genders) and swims in any of the two events at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, may enter those athletes into the Marathon Swimming event, provided such entries will comply with NOC limits where no more than two athletes of the same gender per NOC.
